Cruelty Free Full Glam Makeup

Thanks to one of my gorgeous regulars, Phoebe (@phoebsblackwell), I’ve had the opportunity to create a few full glam makeup looks for her using only cruelty free products. Cruelty free makeup is definitely something I want Beauty by Bliss to move more towards and will always have as an option for our gorgeous Brisbane Babes.

With Phoebe’s fantastic inspiration and my products, we created some incredible looks for her and I wanted to share with you the products I used. It definitely took a bit of research as it seems many companies are making the shift one way or the other. Unfortunately, animal testing is required by law in China, so any company that retails there can be definitively pegged as testing on animals in some way (meaning they are not cruelty free). This is a huge issue for companies as China is an enormous market but, of course, they would all ideally be cruelty free for obvious reasons. This means that there are constant updates as to makeup brands that are starting to sell in China or merging with parent companies that already do, meaning their old products may have been cruelty free but their new ones are not. On the flip side, many companies are making the switch to being cruelty free so their older products may not be, but all new products are. This made for a bit of research for me to ensure all the products I used had definitely been manufactured at a time when the makeup brand operated by cruelty free standards. I do ask that you keep this in mind when looking through the products listed as they may be specific to newly cruelty free brands.

Ultimate Wedding Day Emergency Kit

I’ve compiled a foolproof list of everything you (as the bride, bridesmaid or awesome guest) could need for any mishap that could possibly occur, and trust us, they all have. So many of these items are things that are easily forgotten or not even taken into consideration. It’s a handy list for packing a bag to take if you’re staying away from home the night before the wedding to use in the morning while you’re getting ready. Then, if you want, use it to condense down to the items necessary to have at the ceremony and reception.

  1. Straws – so everyone can enjoy drinks without ruining their lipstick.
  2. Needles, Thread & Buttons – for dress and suit emergencies alike.
  3. Sunscreen – because…hello Brisbane sunshine…for any outdoor moments, the last thing the bride needs before her honeymoon is a sweetheart neckline shaped sunburn.
  4. Safety Pins – for anything that could possibly pull apart, fall apart, come loose or dislodge.
  5. Scissors (big & small) – regular size scissors as well as mini scissors for sewing needs, opening needs and everything in between.
  6. Clear Nail Polish – for stocking runs.
  7. Lint Roller – this one’s for the boys.
  8. Tampons & Pads – someone will need these.
  9. Tissues – for all of the emotions.
  10. Hair Ties & Bobby Pins – for last minute quick fixes and mind changes.
  11. First Aid Kit – medicine (pain relief, allergies & tummy problems), band-aids & antiseptic
  12. Lotion – no dry skin for anyone.
  13. Stain Remover Pen and White Chalk – because…white dress….and if stain remover can’t do the trick, covering it with white chalk usually will.
  14. Lighter – for frayed edges on ribbons & strings.
  15. Cute Umbrellas – turn a disaster into an adorable photo op.
  16. Hollywood Tape – for anything that won’t stay in.
  17. Extension Cord with Multi Plug & Phone Charger(s) – so no selfie will be missed, even while you’re in a makeup chair miles from the wall plugs.
  18. Spare Contacts & Eyedrops – especially for the bride.
  19. Teeth Needs – floss, toothpicks & mints.
  20. Super Glue – Always a winner.
  21. Cash – just in case.
  22. Sample Size Perfume & Deodorant – in case anyone breaks a sweat.
  23. Blotting Papers – for removing oil, not your makeup.
  24. Tweezers – during prep or for when the shoes come off, the drinks are flowing and something breaks…it’s always possible you’ll need a tiny glass remover.
  25. Water & Light Snacks – staying hydrated all day without bloating is key.
  26. Spare Makeup – especially powder & lipstick.
  27. White or Nude Ballet Flats – for when the heels have to go.
  28. Mini Hair Brush – for last minute brushing out of curls.
  29. Makeup and Nail Polish Remover – for accidents.
  30. Gel Inserts & Blister Pads – for before it’s acceptable to switch to flats.

Is there anything you think should be added to the list? I would love to hear from any brides or guests who have been a part of an unusual but entirely possible wedding day emergency with an suggestions for what to add!

Happy wedding planning!
